HYDERABAD: All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who has come to be seen as the face of Muslims in India has said that social media platform Facebook was hesitating to take action against Bajrang Dal.
Bajrang Dal was a part of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and was indulging in spreading hate against Muslims, Owaisi said.
This is not the first time that Owaisi has called what he said were “double standards” on part of Facebook.
Facebook’s management, he said, feared attacks on their employees and infrastructure and was thus trying to keep the BJP and all its allies happy.
“Bajrang Dal and two other groups were not banned on Facebook only because Facebook did not want to risk angering BJP leaders. FB also feared that its employees & offices will be attacked. The cost of keeping the BJP happy was that FB ended up amplifying hate and violence against minorities,” Owaisi said in a tweet.
He asked Facebook to act against all hate mongers and take action by banning the right-wing groups. He questioned Facebook if its inaction against the Bajrang Dal was out of a choice to choose between safety of Indians and its own investments.
