CUK celebrates world book and copyright day at Green Campus

Ganderbal: Central Library of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) celebrated “World Book and Copyright Day” at Green Campus of the varsity here on Tuesday.

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir inaugurated the exhibition of books and other manuscripts and asked the students to inculcate the habit of book reading. “Despite technological onslaught and advent of e-resources, books still have relevance during the contemporary times,” he said while congratulating the Central Library for organizing the event.

University Librarian, Dr. Abdul Majid Baba, while speaking on the occasion, said the event is being celebrated with an aim and objective to pay universal respect to Books and Authors and to persuade people, particularly the students to discover the pleasure of reading.

He said the photo exhibition of world-renowned libraries, quiz program about bestselling books and authors and book exhibition has been organised on the occasion and the Library was open for public including students, scholars and senior citizens.
