ANANTNAG: Clashes erupted between the youth and government forces in Anantnag town in the south Kashmir district on Friday after the former staged protests against the massacre of Palestinians.

A witness said that youth took to streets soon after the culmination of Friday prayers in Old town and Lal Chowk areas to protest the killing of 60 Palestinians in Israeli fire.

He said the youth hurled rocks at the forces deployed in the area. The forces responded by firing tear gas, triggering further clashes.

Joint Resistance Leadership – an amalgam of separatist outfits – had asked people to hold peaceful protests after Friday prayers as a mark of solidarity with the Palestinians.
