Vehicle on way to gunfight site in Shopian turns turtle, two troopers killed

SRINAGAR: Two troopers were killed after the Sumo they were traveling in met with an accident near Kanipora village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a Sumo carrying troopers from 44 RR Chowgam Camp was on its way to the gunfight site at Budigam.

They said the driver lost control over the vehicle and it skidded off the road. Four personnel were injured in the mishap.

Sources added that the injured were shifted to District Hospital Shopian, where two among them succumbed.

They said that the remaining two injured troopers have been evacuated to 92 Base Army hospital Srinagar.

Meanwhile, police said that two militants have been killed in Budigam Shopian gunfight. Police said that gunfight is underway.
