Two arrested with fake currency in Kulgam

KULGAM: Two persons were on Thursday arrested after they were found carrying fake currency of over Rs 50,000 in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Police in a statement to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that officials from Police Station Yaripora on a specific information laid a naka near Yaripora Matibugh crossing and stopped a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number DL2CAP-6782.

During checking of the vehicle, police said fake currency approx Rs 53100 was seized from the possession of Khursheed Ahmad Paray, son of Abdul Rashid Paray of Shuch, Kulgam and Abdul Rashid Lone, son of Late Ghulam Mohammed Lone of Kachdora, Shopian.

Both the persons were arrested, police said, adding that vehicle and fake currency were also seized on spot.

In this regard, a case under FIR number 28/2020 under section 120- B 489- B,489-C 188 269 IPC stands registered in PS and investigation taken up.
