Militants killed in Shopian encounter not identified yet

SRINAGAR: Two militant were killed in an encounter which broke out between militants and government forces in Dairoo, Keegam of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday morning. The slain militants are yet to be identified.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that two militant were killed and their identification is being ascertained.  They said that that  a joint team of forces Army’s 44RR, Police and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Dairoo, Keegam area after they had specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants started firing on the forces, triggering an encounter, he said, adding that during exchange of fire two militants were killed. A senior police official said that their bodies were taken to Srinagar and their identification is being ascertained.
