Two Hizb Militants Killed in Khrew Encounter

Srinagar: Two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit were killed by security forces in an encounter in South Kashmir’s Awantipora on Friday. 

As per officials the encounter started in the area after specific information about the presence of militants in the area. The operation was led by a joint team of security forces of Army, Police and CRPF. 

In the encounter two militants of HM were identified as Musaib Mushtaq, a resident of Khrew and another was identified as Muzamil Ahmad Rather, a resident of Chakoora Pulwama. 

As per IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar one of slain militants, Musaib Mushtaq, was involved in killing of Javid Ah Malik at Lurgam. “This was a hit squad of HM responsible for civilian killings in South Kashmir,” said police quoting IGP-K Vijay Kumar. 

The operation started during the night of Thursday and Friday in Awantipora and security forces remained engaged with the militants till the afternoon hours of Friday. However, in the morning, police confirmed the killing of one militant and hours after the second was also confirmed to be killed in the operation. 

The officials also said that the arms and ammunition and incriminating material was recovered after the end of the encounter.
