NEW DELHI: The ECI’s reported decision to not allow state police personnel in a radius of 100 m on any polling booth in West Bengal has drawn flak from the state’s ruling TMC.

Citing media reports regarding the decision, the TMC on Friday accused the Election Commission of “bias” and said holding elections in West Bengal in a free, fair and transparent manner was “becoming a distant reality”.

In a memorandum presented to the EC by a TMC delegation, the TMC said the decision amounted to casting aspersion on the reputation of the police administration in the state.
