SRINAGAR: Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday said that the aim behind censoring the media was to censor the truth.
Mirwaiz also hailed the contribution of Kashmir media who he said were reporting truth despite “pulls and pressures”.
“Pen is mightier than the sword, On #WorldPressFreedomDay hail the contribution of free press across the globe as well as of our Jammu and Kashmir press fraternity who inspite of pulls and pressures let the truth prevail. Those who censor media aim to censor the truth (sic),” Mirwaiz tweeted on the occasion of World Press freedom Day.
The United Nations has declared May 3 as the World Press Freedom Day.
