SRINAGAR: Continuing its drive to provide basic food items to the most-affected poor families due to Covid-19 lockdown, J&K Bank today distributed packets of dry food like rice, flour, pulses and other items among the families which were in dire need.

The bank’s Zonal Head Kashmir (Central I) Syed Rais Maqbool supervised the distribution process wherein the needy families, identified by the Heads of Business Units/Clusters, from areas i.e. Naidyar, Mehjoor Nagar, Shehr i Khas and Shalimar in Srinagar were provided with the food packs in a safe and hassle-free manner. Notably, the food packs were also provided to the labourers from outside J&K right at their door steps in few of the areas as well.

“As the premiere financial institution we are, as always, here to extend our support to the weak and needy during these testing times. Today, following up on the directions of  our Chairman & MD, we have distributed basic food packs among 200 needy families in some of the areas of our zone besides many of the labourers belonging to other parts of the country”, said the Zonal Head on the occasion.    

The beneficiaries hailed the Bank for the generous gesture and prayed for its success and growth.

Meanwhile, in order to serve its customers better and in a safe manner, J&K Bank also pressed an on-site ATM into public service at its business unit Dada Ompora in Chadoora. The commissioning of ATM shall further help mitigate the risk of spread of the Covid-19 infection.

“The ATM has been made operational on fast track basis, as per the directions of our Chairman and MD to avoid gatherings at the business units, wherever possible amid the Covid 19 outbreak, so that general public is not put at risk. The staff of the concerned business unit has been advised to ensure social distancing and other sanitization norms are followed while cash is withdrawn from the teller machine”, said the Zonal Head Kashmir (Central II) Syed Shujaat Hussain Andrabi.

 “The ATM shall enable the people from catchment area to withdraw cash, inquire balance and get account statements while ensuring the mandatory social distancing norms regarding containment of the contagious virus”, he added.

The people of the catchment area hailed the bank’s efforts for the timely commissioning of the ATM, which they acknowledged, was aimed to provide relief to the customers besides ensuring their safety.
