Ahmad (18) was killed along with an associate, Liyaqat Ahmad Lone of Sopore, in a gunfight with the government forces in Guloora village of Handwara late last night.

The report said that Ahmad was a student of 12th standard when he joined militant ranks some four months ago.

An eyewitness said that Furqan was laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans.

Earlier, the youth took to streets and clashed with the forces after the news of his death spread in the area.
