GANDERBAL: The Srinagar-Kargil highway, which remained closed for traffic for a fourth consecutive day on Friday, is likely to reopen for traffic tomorrow, officials said.

A beacon official said that the snow clearance on the highway has almost been completed. “It will be completed by early morning and the road will be through for traffic,” he said.

Superintendent of police traffic (rural), Muzaffar Ahmed Shah told Greater Kashmir that traffic will be allowed from Kargil towards Sonamarg on Saturday subject to fair weather.

“Any decision to allow traffic from Sonamarg side will be taken accordingly later in the afternoon,” he said.

However, Shah said that the stranded vehicles from Kargil side will be allowed to move first on priority.
