Traders thank DC, others for organizing drive; appeal people, shopkeepers to get vaccinated

SRINAGAR: Amid spike in the COVID-19 cases, the district administration Srinagar has started vaccination drive in market places in the district.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the health officials carried out COVID vaccination drive in the historic Jamia Masjid market, located in the Old City area of Nowhatta yesterday.

Witnesses said that the people who had come to offer prayers at Jamia Masjid or other passersby in the market were vaccinated.

Today, the drive was carried out at the commercial hub Lal Chowk, where traders were vaccinated. Lal Chowk traders Association here have expressed gratitude to the administration for carrying out the vaccination drive.

Talking to media persons, members of traders Association said that they are thankful to deputy commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Tehsildar, Patwari and others for organizing the vaccination drive here today.

“Amid steep rise in the COVID-19 cases, we appeal to the shopkeepers and general people to come forward and get vaccinated as the vaccination drive will continue for three days here,” the traders said.

Dr Mahoor Shafi, who was part of the drive, said that it’s great to see positive response from the people vis-à-vis getting vaccinated. “The vaccine is not stopping virus but it gives immunity to protect oneself from getting infected,” she said.
