Two Cops injured in Sopore grenade blast

SOPORE: Two cops were injured on Saturday in a grenade explosion at Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A police spokesman in a statement to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that

Sopore Police received information in the afternoon about a crime incident at Bus Stand Sopore where militants hurled a grenade at Police Post Bus Stand.

“Senior police officers reached the crime spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that militants had hurled a grenade at Police Post Bus Stand Sopore in which two police personnel namely Mohammad Afzal and Azad Ahmad received minor injuries. Both the injured officials have been evacuated to nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries,” the statement said.

It said that Police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on.
