New Delhi: The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and adjoining areas (CAQM) today issued directions for immediate closure of all industries in Delhi-NCR that had not switched to PNG, a cleaner fuel, despite its availability.
The CAQM said violating industries/industrial units would not be permitted to operate till December 12 and the position will be reviewed for further decisions.
“Despite measures in different sectors, the Delhi-NCR air quality still remains in ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ category… The commission believes that there is an urgent need to take further preventive measures, as a matter of extreme emergency and abundant caution,” it said.
