JAMMU: Shiv Sena (Bala Saheb Thackeray) Jammu and Kashmir unit strongly protested and condemned the hike in water rates.Under the leadership of party president UT J&K Manish Sahni , Shiv Sainiks entitled the People of J&K are to get free water & electricity.
Sahni said that Jammu and Kashmir has sufficient natural water resources. By using which drinking water can be made available to the public round the clock at very low cost. Using our water resources, many times more electricity is being generated than the consumption.
Reminding the announcement by Lt Governor in September 2020, the 50 percent discount was announced in electricity and water bills for up to one year.
Setting aside this, the Jammu and Kashmir Water Resources Regulatory Authority has increased the water charges for domestic and commercial consumers by 10 percent from April 2021. Sahni said that the economic slowdown and unbridled inflation broke the back of the public.
Instead of providing relief to the public, the increase in bills is condemnable. Sahni urged the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Hon’ble Manoj Sinha, toko immediately withdraw the increase and provide free electricity and water to the public.
On this occasion president mehila wing Meenakshi Chibber , Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Vice President Balwant Singh, President Kamgar Wing Raj Singh, Secretary Geeta Lakhotra, Sukhwinder Kaur, Vice President Kamgar Sanjeev Sudan, President Kashmir Division Ghulam Rasool Lone, Shakeel Ahmed Dar, Abdul Rashid Mir, Ali Muhammad Dasdi, Mohammad Amin Dar, Dimple and many other leaders and workers were present.
