Inspects functioning of government institutions, progress on ongoing development projects

GANDERBAL: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Sheetal Nanda, who was visiting officer   for Sonamarg-B, visited the panchayat as part of fifth phase of ambitious “Back to Village” programme.

The Visiting Officer took first hand appraisal of the demands and grievances raised in the previous back to village phases. She was informed that the issues which were projected in the previous phases have already been resolved. She also sought action taken report from the concerned departments.

The Visiting Officer listened to the PRI representatives and other common citizens of the panchayat and recorded the new grievances. Some of the demands were resolved on spot while others were taken up with the District Administration.

She visited various infrastructural projects and government institutions including playground at Gaganger, road from highway to upper area of the gagangir, health and wellness centre, Government High School, Anganwadi Centre, Compost Pits, Panchayat Bhawan. She gave some suggestions to the concerned officers to further improve the facilities in the public institutions.

Instructions were given to the District Administration regarding renovation of Health and Wellness Centre and upgradation of road from highway to upper areas of gagangeer.

Meanwhile, cultural events and sports events were organized by the local students to highlight their local culture and also generate awareness about various issues.

During the event, all the field officials from departments highlighted their schemes and generated awareness about the progress and eligibility criteria of the different schemes.

Furthermore, the Visiting officer also distributed kits among school children under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao besides giving away kits to Sakhi Club members.

The visiting officer also highlighted the social welfare schemes especially saturation under pension scheme and asked the PRI functionaries to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left behind.

Lastly, the visiting officer instructed the line departments to ensure all the facilities are put in place as winter season is approaching so that public should not face any inconvenience on this account.

Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner,  Mushtaq  Ahmad Simnani, CPO, District Social Welfare Officer and other officers of the district administration.

Later, Commissioner Secretary visited the One Stop Centre (OSC) in Ganderbal where she inspected the newly acquired building housing the Centre.
