BJP’s ex-MLA, Dy Mayor JMC, ors booked for defying Govt orders

JAMMU: Several leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) including the former legislator have been by Jammu and Kashmir police for violating the government orders issued under section 144 in Jammu region.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police in Jammu have booked several senior leaders of (BJP) including Deputy Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Purnima Sharma, former Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rajesh Gupta and other leaders after they were found violating the government orders by putting lives of general people in grave risk.

Police officials said that Municipal Corporation leaders and BJP leaders assembled in the main Old City and distributed ration among needy families. “The lockdown orders were violated during this ration distribution and social distancing was also not followed by the people who have been booked today,” police officials said.

“A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Jammu city,” officials said.
