SRINAGAR: The government on Monday said that the physical academic activities of lower primary classes resumed with a student footfall except in some schools.
Officials at Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a good footfall of KG to 5th standard students was registered among the lower primary schools that resumed the offline classes since March-2020.
The official said that some schools implemented forenoon-afternoon classes while some were following odd-even formulas. “All the faculty and the students have to make sure that they are following all prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure safety of everyone.”
In view of COVID-19 pandemic, authorities in the first week of March ordered resumption of physical classes for 6th to 8th standard students. However, the lower primary classes were ordered to reopen from March-15 that earlier were scheduled to reopen on March-08.
Earlier while the schools were yet to reopen in Kashmir, at least 9 staff members of a private school and a principal of a government school tested positive for COVID-19.
In 2020, the students of Kashmir valley were yet to overcome the academic losses suffered post abrogation of Article-370 in 2019, the outbreak of COVID-19 in March-2020 added the fuel to their miseries.
From online classes via low speed internet to Tele and Radio classes, the students of Kashmir said that they were lagging far behind in comparison with the students of other states of India.
