New Delhi: Supreme Court judge DY Chandrachud today expressed concern over failure to immediately communicate bail orders to jail authorities that often leads to delay in release of accused.

In an online address to e-inaugurate ‘Virtual Courts and e-Sewa Kendra’ at the Allahabad High Court and district courts in Uttar Pradesh, Justice Chandrachud said such delays adversely affected personal liberty of accused.

“This is a serious deficiency in our system, the delay in communication of bail orders. This touches upon human liberty of every undertrial,” said the judge who is also the chairperson of the Supreme Court e-committee.

Highlighting the need for e-seva kendras, he said it had been necessitated due to the digital divide that deprived a large chunk of the Indian population from having access to technology.

Aryan Khan’s release was delayed by a day after being granted bail by the Bombay High Court on Friday as certain procedural formalities could not be completed in time.
