Road safety month ends with culmination of 5-day long Fitness camp at Ramban

RAMBAN: Marking the end of the month-long road safety drive, the five-day Vehicle Fitness Mela, culminated here today in this district.

At the closing ceremony, a grand fitness Mela was organised in the premises of District Administrative Complex by the Motor Vehicles Department, where about 100 vehicles were examined by the technical staff of the department.

On the final day the Mela was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam, whereat he interacted with the participants and asked all stakeholders to maintain their vehicles according to the vehicle fitness parameters.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal; Additional Superintendent Police, Rajni Sharma and other senior officers from various departments and transporters attended the function.

To minimize the road accidents on highway, the DC directed the construction agencies to maintain existing highway for smooth vehicular traffic.

Earlier, the UT-level event inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha was also web linked and screened in which all the speakers highlighted the importance of road safety.

Meanwhile, ARTO, Shafqat Majeed informed that during the month long awareness drive department organized various programmes including health checkup camps for drivers, bikers’ rally, vehicle fitness melas, awareness camps, besides other informative events regarding road safety across the district.
