DUBAI: The Ramadan crescent was sighted in UAE on Sunday morning.
According to a picture tweeted by the local astronomy centre, the crescent was spotted in ‘difficult’ conditions using sophisticated imaging technology – from Al Ain’s Jebel Hafeet.
However, official confirmation for the beginning of Ramadan 2019 (1440) is awaited by the moon-sighting committee, which will convene today after sunset.
