NEW DELHI: Congress general Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday self-isolated after her husband Robert tested COVID positive.

Vadra cancelled her poll plans in Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala after exposure to COVID and medical advice to self-isolate for some days.

“I have been exposed to the Corona virus. Although I tested negative yesterday, the doctors have advised me to self-isolate for some days. So I will be isolating myself,” Vadra said in a video message.

She announced cancellation of campaign plans in Assam today, Tamil Nadu on Saturday and Kerala on Sunday wishing the candidates victory in the upcoming elections.

Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka have been the most visible campaigners for the Congress in state elections barring Bengal where they haven’t gone even once despite conclusion of two phases.

Earlier, today Robert Vadra said on his Facebook page that he had tested positive after which he and his wife Priyanka had self-isolated.

“Unfortunately, I came into contact with someone COVID +ve and have tested positive for COVID although I am asymptomatic so far. As per the COVID guidelines, Priyanka and I are self-isolating although she has tested negative. Fortunately, the kids have not been with us these days and everyone else at home has tested negative too. Hopefully we will all be back to normal life soon,” he said.
