BARAMULLA: Despite the High Court order and directions for removal of Russian Popular trees, the concerned authorities have failed to cut of popular trees as the pollen seeds have been giving tough time to the general public and it causes various respiratory problems.
Sources said that there is an unprecedented presence of Russian poplars trees in Baramulla district they have become a serious cause of health concern among the students and kids from past few weeks.
Floating of pollen seeds from popular trees has not only caused allergies or other respiratory diseases among people but there are chances that it can also exacerbate and intensify existing ailments like asthma and other co related diseases, said sources.
Local residents of Baramulla town said, few weeks back the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla has ordered immediate removal of popular trees of female Russian Species across the district.
The DC Baramulla had formed a team of nodal officers who were asked to ensure cutting of female Russian Popular trees through designated committees including Social Forestry, and Flood Control Department.
All the revenue officers including Tehsildar’s and BFO, have been directed to ensure compliance of the High Court Directions in letter and spirit, while as nodal officers were appointed for their respective jurisdictions in this matter, said sources.
Sources also said that, same problem of pollen from popular trees is from other districts of north Kashmir including Kupwara and Bandipora.
Nazir Ahmad from Langate area said that, Russian popular trees have affected their lives from past few months, as they believe that pollen seeds of poplars of Russian species are adversely affecting health of general public, mostly of elderly people and children.
While as there are reports from Bandipora district also that people are badly affected due to pollens, “The problem of floating pollen seeds becomes acute in our district,” said Manzoor Ahmad from Hajin Bandipora.
