AMRITSAR: The Punjab Police and the Border Security Force seized four weapons pushed into Indian Territory from Pakistan near Pul Moran at the Indo-Pak border here on Sunday.

The joint operation was conducted after police were tipped off about possible weapons in the area. Security forces found an AK 56 rifle with magazine and five bullets, an AK-47 rifle with a magazine and 9 rounds, a .303 gun with magazine and 7 rounds and a .30 China-made pistol with magazine.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dhruv Dahiya said police had specific intelligence of some Pakistan-based smugglers having hidden sophisticated weapons near the international border. The weapons, he said, was “meant for creating trouble in the country”.

A case has been registered against unknown smugglers. Investigations are still ongoing.
