Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Budgam; Psychotropic substance recovered

BUDGAM: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.

Officers from Police Post Humhama at a checkpoint established at Railway Track Humhama intercepted 02 persons who on seeing police party tried to escape from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert naka party. They have been identified as Mudasir Maqbool Ganai son of Mohammad Maqbool Ganai resident of Krankshivan Colony Sopore and Manzoor Hussain Bhat son of Gh Mustufa Bhat resident of Mir Mohalla Haigam Sopore. During checking, officers were able to recover 19 bottles of codeine phosphate from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 321/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
