PDA contests news item circulated on social media

ANNATNAG: The Chief Executive Officer, Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) today contested the news item circulated on a section of social media on July 31, 2020 regarding an incident that occurred in PDA office on July 30, 2020.

In a clarification issued by the officer, it has been made clear that fake news circulated on the Social media regarding a senior officer who has been held responsible for withholding the wages in favour of the accused Javaid Ahmed Sheikh a resident of Frislana is absolutely baseless.

The statements issued by the CEO, PDA reads that the Accounts Officer also Drawing and Disbursing Officer had on July 30 (late hours) received muster sheets in favour of only 35 seasonal and need based workers for payment which were released and credited in the individual bank accounts of the workers on July 31.

“However, that the re-engagements of some workers including the accused person, as need based seasonal worker during the current year, has been a subject matter of investigation by a designated committee constituted vide this office order No 127PDA of 2020 dated April, 22, 2020, as such the question of framing the muster sheets by the Engineering wing, pass order accorded by the Executive Engineer, and its subsequent payment by the Drawing Officer, Accounts Officer does not arise at all” the CEO clarifies.

Meanwhile an FIR No. 47 Under Section 436 and 511 has been lodged in Police Station Pahalgam, against the accused Javaid Ahmed claiming to be Seasonal Worker of this Authority for trying to set ablaze the office building of Pahalgam Development Authority on July 30 and endangering the lives of the staff members and other people present in the building at the point of time besides the government property.
