Thieves left behind a vehicle; Bank guard sustains minor injury during scuffle, investigations in full swing: SSP Baramulla

BARAMULLA: Jammu and Kashmir police Thursday said that the burglars looted some cash from the J&K bank branch in the Pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district while the searches are underway to trace those involved in the act.

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Rayees Bhat said that some amount of cash has been stolen from the Bank while the bank authorities have not intimated about the total cash stolen from the branch in the incident.

“They have stolen the cash at the counter only and had no other chances there”, he said.

The SSP said that the burglars have also fired some gunshots while no one received injuries during the scene when locals present there pelted stones at them but they managed to escape under the cover of fire.

He said that that the thieves have left a vehicle used by them at the scene. 

The district police chief said that the bank guard has received very minor injuries in his hand during the scuffle.  Searches are under in the areas to nab those involved, the SSP said.
