ISLAMABAD: Pakistan National Assembly on Sunday rejected the no confidence motion against Imran Khan Administration amid ruckus in the national assembly.
Soon after the no-confidence vote was rejected, the Prime Minister Imran Khan in a live televised address to Pakistan called for fresh election.
“I have written to the President to dissolve the assemblies. There should be elections in a democratic way. I call upon the people to Pakitan to prepare for elections,” he said in an address to the nation.
The former international cricketer’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party effectively lost majority in the 342-member assembly last week when a coalition partner said its seven lawmakers would vote with the opposition.
However, Imran Khan had said he will not resign and insisted he will ‘fight till the last ball’.
He also appealed to his supporters to take to the streets to peacefully protest against what he said was a conspiracy hatched outside Pakistan to unseat him.
No Pakistan Prime Minister has ever completed a full term.
