Orientation programme under IWMP held at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: In order to discuss plantation plan that is being launched shortly in all the ten projects of Baramulla, Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) Baramulla today organized an orientation program for the chairpersons of Watershed Development Committees (WDCs) at Dak Bungalow, here.

On the occasion, Project Manager IWMP Baramulla, Gulzar Ahmad gave a detailed overview of the extent of instructions to be followed on ground by the WDT members as well as the chairpersons of the WDCs for successful implementation of the plantation program. 

He urged WDC chairpersons to give wide publicity of the plantation program at panchayat level for transparent execution of the program.

Meanwhile, IWMP Baramulla has arranged free of cost plants of various fruits varieties from State Agro Corporation for free distribution among the beneficiaries through WDCs chairpersons for plantation in their respective projects. 

Moreover, Project Manager IWMP impressed upon the chairpersons to ensure that the marginal farmers especially the poor families with small land holdings are preferred and provided with the fruit plants free of cost with the aim to improve their livelihood and income.
