NC leader Syed Tauqeer booked for inciting violence against Forest Department

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday booked the former sessions judge Anantnag and National Conference (NC) leader Syed Tauqeer for inciting violence against the Forest Department while addressing a rally in Kokernag area of district few days back.

A police official said that a First Information Report (FIR) number 7/19 U/S 116, 506, 153 RPC against the former sessions judge Anantnag Syed Tauqeer has been registered at Police Station Larnoo.

On Thursday, a video, showing NC leader Syed Tauqeer provoking a group of locals in a Kokernag village to attack the forest department employees had gone viral on social media

“I have been told that the forest department is closing your roads. Now you have my permission and if any of them (forest employees) comes again chop their hands and feet and tell them that NC’s nominated candidate has given you the permission,” Syed Tauqeer can be heard telling his workers.

Greater Kashmir had reported that the district administration Anantnag is verifying the contents of a video wherein the NC leader is heard advocating violence against the forest department employees.

The Tauqeer made the remarks while addressing a roadside gathering in Matribugh village.

The former judge had opted for voluntary retirement to join NC and is seeking mandate from Breng-Kokernag assembly constituency.
