MVD Kulgam organises Health Check up camp at D. H. Pora

KULGAM: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Kulgam in collaboration with the Health and Medical department Yaripora today organised a Medical and Health Check up camp at Shabnum Sumo Stand to celebrate 32nd National Road Safety Month-2021.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, who was Chief Guest on the occasion, inaugurated the Health and Medical Camp.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that apart from free medical check up to the drivers the aim of the programme was to sensitise the driver community about safe and disciplined driving.

He impressed upon the drivers to follow 10 golden rules of safe driving like using seat belts, not to over speed, keeping your vehicle fit, avoid using phone while driving and being sober on road.

The DDC said that the need of the hour is to impart awareness about registration, fitness of vehicles and procedures for obtaining a driving licence among car owners and drivers of commercial vehicles.

He while lauding the efforts of MVD urged the transport department to conduct such awareness programmes on a regular basis and impart basic training regarding safe driving among drivers.

The officials from the Health and Medical department conducted eye check up of the commercial vehicle drivers.

Later, a large number of transporters from various parts of the tehsil apprised the ARTO Kulgam of their grievances. The ARTO urged them to ensure plying of transport till late night and desist from charging extra fare and overloading of passengers.

Among others present on the occasion were Assistant Regional Transport Officer Kulgam, Mohammad Zubair Lattoo, Tehsildar and B.M.O besides S.H.O of D. H. Pora and other officials from the Health department.
