SHOPIAN: A militant was killed in a gunfight with the security forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.
The gunfight, third in a day, broke out after the forces launched a cordon and search operation in Handew village of the district.
Reports said a militant was killed in the brief gunfight. “Firing has stopped. Searches are still on at the gunfight site,” said an official.
Earlier, three militants, an army soldier and a civilian were killed in a gunfight in Pulwama district while another gunfight is underway in Kupwara district.
