MiG 27 aircraft crashes near Jodhpur in Rajasthan

JODHPUR: A MiG-27 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Jodhpur in Rajasthan on Sunday, according to officials.

The pilot of the MiG-27 aircraft has ejected safely. The aircraft was on a routine mission when it crashed.

According to officials, “At around 11:45 am today, a MiG-27 UPG aircraft which got airborne from Utarlai Air Force base experienced engine problems leading to a crash, at about 120 kms south of Jodhpur. However, the pilot ejected safely.”

Preliminary reports indicate no loss of property or life on the ground.

“A court of inquiry will investigate the cause of the accident,” officials added.

This comes just three weeks after a MiG-21 fighter aircraft of the IAF crashed in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district.

The pilot of the MiG-21 aircraft had ejected safely.
