SRINAGAR: A condolence meeting was held at the Media Education Research Centre (MERC), University of Kashmir, to mourn the tragic demise of the department’s former student Seema Tahir.

Seema Tahir left for the heavenly abode recently. She was a gold medalist from MERC and was living in the USA with her family.

In her condolence message, Head of the Department Dr Aaliya Ahmed remembered Seema Tahir as a disciplined, diligent and dedicated student who created a niche for herself in the industry as soon as she finished her degree.

Seema Tahir was the first MERC pass out who hosted ‘Good Morning Show’ on DD Kashmir. After moving to the USA she joined the Madinah Academy of Madison, Wisconsin and eventually became the principal of the Academy.

“She was very active in community work and took this Academy to newer heights,” Dr Aaliya said.

Senior faculty member at the MERC Nasir Mirza also remembered Seema Tahir as a highly meritorious student who was always ready to walk an extra mile.

Other faculty members Dr Sabeha Mufti, Dr Syeda Afshana, Dr Malik Zahra and Dr. Rasheed also joined the meeting and paid their respects to the departed soul.

On the occasion the faculty members also offered condolences to the Registrar of the University Dr Nissar Ahmad Mir on his brother’s demise and also expressed sympathies with another MERC pass-out and journalist Mohammad Moazam on his father’s demise.

The meeting concluded with ‘fateha’ prayers for the deceased.
