Mehbooba demands probe into killing of civilian in central Kashmir

SRINAGAR: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday demanded a probe into the killing of a civilian during a firing incident in Budgam district.

In a statement, Mehbooba expressed “deep shock and anguish” over the killing of Ishfaq Ahmad allegedly by an Army unit at Chattergam area on Friday.

She asked the Governor’s administration to strictly ensure that security agencies were made accountable for protecting civilians and avoiding collateral damage during operations.

She demanded an inquiry into the incident and also sought compensation to the victim’s family.
