Mega Football tourney kick-starts in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The 9th edition of the “Kashmir Mega Football” championship kickstarted with a colourful opening ceremony at Srinagar’s synthetic football turf on Sunday.

The event was inaugurated by Nuzhat Gull, Secretary, J&K Sports Council in presence of many noted social and sports personalities. 

The Secretary Sports Council while speaking on the occasion said that hundreds of talented youth across the valley are taking part in this mega event every year to showcase their talent, adding that the premier sports body is duty bound to extend all available facilities to the athletes and others directly and indirectly involved in sports. 

She also said that the moto behind collaborating with such events is to engage more and more youth in sports, tap the talent and channel their potential for good and holistic progress and development of the nation, besides addressing the issues of lifestyle modifications and fitness.

The inaugural football match was held between JK United FC and Jhelum FC. Jhelum FC got better of their opponents with the scoreline reading 3:2 goals in their favour.
