NEW DELHI: The standoff at Ladakh was a result of China’s action to change status quo, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Friday.
The Ministry of External Affairs said at a Friday briefing that “three Chinese actions along LAC are in violation of bilateral agreements and protocols on ensuring peace and tranquillity in border areas”.
MEA spokesperson Anurag Srivastava who addressed the weekly press briefing however did not elaborate what these actions were.
“China sought to effect unilateral change in status along LAC in eastern Ladakh,” the MEA said. “The core issue was that both sides must abide by various bilateral agreements and protocols in their entirety.”
The remarks that come a day after China blamed India for the esclalated tensions and the continuing impasse at eastern Ladakh between India and China.
