Mass promotion also for class 11 students who were to appear in bi-annual exams in Kashmir
JAMMU: The authorities in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday decided to give mass promotion to the students from classes 1st to 9th and for class 11th in Jammu division in view of the prevailing situation due to the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
According the wire service Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the order was issued today by deputy secretary to the government, school education department, Jammu and Kashmir.
The government has also directed that the students who were to appear in bi-annual/private Class 11 examination in Kashmir division also be considered for mass promotion.
As per the order, copy of which lies with—KNO, the government has directed the chairperson JKBOSE and director school education, Jammu division to issue notification/orders in this regard.
Earlier, they had submitted a proposal to the government for considering the mass promotion of these classes in view of the prevailing circumstances arising out of Covid-19 pandemic. “This has reference to your’s proposal dated: 04.04.2020. regarding subject cited above.
In this context, I am directed to convey that keeping in view the prevailing extraordinary circumstances of the worldwide spread of COVID-19 and the countrywide lockdown and the academic future of the students, the competent authority has agreed to your’s proposal and advised you to take necessary action including issuance of notification/orders, for implementation,” reads the order.
The order further reads “For Classes 1″ to 9th of Jammu Division : All students studying in Classes 1 to 9 of all schools (Government as well as Private) of Jammu Division which are falling under Summer Zone and affiliated to J&K State Board of School Education recognized by Government of UT of J&K be promoted to the next class grade for the academic session 2020-21, as a one-time exemption.”
The government has also advised the Director School Education Jammu to monitor and finalize the process of promotion as per the approved norms.
“For class 11th (Summer Zone): All the examinees, who were to appear in class 11 Annual Regular examination falling under Summer Zone of Jammu Division (that stands postponed) be promoted to the Hr. Sec. Part II (12th), as one-time exemption.” reads the order.
