Traders say first day of re-opening brought relief to business community
SRINAGAR: After three-month-long lockdown for over three months in wake of COVID-19 outbreak, the markets across Srinagar district witnessed hustle-bustle again as the shops and other business establishments re-opened on Saturday.
The district administration Srinagar on Friday ordered re-opening of markets in the district after three-month-long lock down, which was announced to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.
Witnesses told news agency–Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the markets across Srinagar re-opened today while people were seen buying essentials throughout the day.
The traders expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar for taking trader-friendly decision.
Talking to KNO, Kashmir Traders Manufacturing Federation (KTMF) president, Muhammad Yasin Khan, said that the markets reopened after over three months now and it brought relief to the trade community.
He said although the rush of shoppers was not that much what was expected, but still the psychological pressure on traders has reduced to a large extent on the first day of re-opening.
Khan further stated that the majority of the people on roads today were seen following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and other precautionary measures in letter and spirit. He said it will take a few days more when all the people in markets will be seen following the SOPs strictly.
Pertinently, the Administration ordered re-openingof markets and asked people to followStandard Operating Procedures (SoPs) in letter and spirit. The decision was hailed by the trade bodies who also appealed the people especially traders to follow the SOPs in letter and spirit.
