Many families shifted to safer places in Uri

BARAMULLA: Continuous rains from past several days have created a panic in Uri area, where few houses and a mosque is said to be at risk, while as one house has got partially damaged in Narwaw area here.

According to sources that due to incessant rains, land sinking incidents have been witnessed in many border villages of Uri sector that has created panic among the local inhabitants.

Six family members of Bandi area including Abdul Majeed Chachi S/O Gh Mohiud Din Chachi have been shifted to Uri, adding residents of many villages including Batgran, Charunda, and Manchichurand area are worried about the land sinking in their areas, sources told Street times.

Sources said that the families that have been shifted to Rest House Uri were identified as Pazir Ahmad Baaro, Hussain Din Baroo, Abdul Majeed Choudry, Riyaz Ahmad Baroo, Shahwali Pathan.

All the facilities were provided to the families, and the concerned officials have constituted a team that will submit the report about the damages to the district administration in the shortest possible time, said Irshad Ahmad of Uri area.

He also said that, road and water supply has also got affected in Sub division Uri, that connects many areas with it like, Kamalkote, Thajal, Tilawarim Churunda, Batgran, and Sukdar and from past few days we have been requesting the officials concerned about the problem, but nothing concrete has been done so for.

Meanwhile there are also reports that, due to incessant rain, one house has got damaged in Naik Mohalla of Dangerpora area in Sheeri belt of Baramulla district.

Sources said that, house of a handicapped person, namely Mohammad Subhan Lone has got partially damaged and he has no source of income, while as he has shifted his family to the neighbors house.

Father of five children has appealed the government and locals of the district for financial assistance.

While as sources from Sopore area said that, sudden hailstorm has wreaked havoc in Rafiabad area on Wednesday thus damaging standing crops and orchards.

Hailstorm lasted for nearly five minutes, caused huge damage to crops, vegetables and the fruits including Apricot and Cherry.
