KU’s Social Work Department organises skill development programme in Bandipora, Budgam

Srinagar: The Department of Social Work University of Kashmir organised a skill development programme in Bandipora and Budgam districts.

The four-day programme, organised as part of community outreach and skill-building initiative, was attended by 40 women participants (20 from each district) associated with the USHA Satellite Silai Schools.

The programme included training on basics of cutting and tailoring.

Dean School of Social Sciences Prof M Y Ganai presided over the valedictory session and highlighted the importance of skill building of women for the socio-economic development of the society. He stressed on the need to encourage women to take interest in skill building programmes.

Earlier, Head Department of Social Work Dr Shazia Manzoor welcomed the guests and highlighted the aims and objectives of the training programme.

The valedictory function was also attended by faculty members of the Department of Social Work, including Dr Saima Farhad and Dr Sarfaraz Ahmad.
