Kissan Mela held at TRC Kupwara

KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today asked scientists of Krishi Vegyan Kendra (KVK) Kupwara to ensure all efforts to transfer the latest scientific techniques from lab to land. 

The DC was addressing a Kissan Mela organized by KVK Kupwara at TRC here. ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; District Head KVK, Dr. Sajad; Officers from Agriculture and allied departments, besides, progressive farmers and PRIs participated in the day long Kisan Mela.

The DC directed the concerned officers to initiate an intensive awareness campaign in the rural areas of the district and give scientific technical knowhow of the agriculture and allied schemes to the farmers. 

He urged the farmers to take full advantage of the programmes and schemes envisaged to boost the agriculture sector in the district. 

Expressing satisfaction, the DC said that agriculture is fastly growing on commercial lines in the district and youth are now participating in agriculture entrepreneurship. 

ADC Kupwara also spoke on the occasion.

Subject matter specialists and scientists of KVK also spoke on the occasion and gave detailed awareness to the farmers about the latest scientific techniques. 

The DC also gave away awards to 7 progressive farmers for their better performance in agriculture entrepreneurship. 

Earlier, the DC inspected different stalls installed by various departments at the venue.
