JAMMU: Several Kashmiri families residing at Janipur housing colony in Jammu on Friday said that they were feeling unsafe as violent mobs were pelting their houses with stones.

Several residents made distress calls to Street Times in which they sought protection from the police following attacks on their temporary lodgings.

“We are staying with small kids, women and old who are terrified by the continuous stone pelting on our houses. We are fearing for our lives. If police cannot protect us, we want them to send us home,” a panicked resident told Street Times over phone from Jammu.

He alleged that the police “supposed to safeguard us are nowhere to be seen.”
