KCC&I president anguished over loss of lives in flash floods

SRINAGAR: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) President, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad Tuesday expressed anguish at the loss of lives in the flash floods, which hit Budgam and Shopian districts of Kashmir on Monday.

In a statement issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad stated that the sudden hailstorm and flash floods triggered by heavy rains, which hit Chadoora area of Budgam and Chotipora area of Shopian had in addition to the tragic loss of human lives also caused substantial damage to the various agricultural/horticultural crops in the area as also to vehicles and house properties.

Thanking Deputy Commissioner Budgam for his prompt announcement of ex-gratia under SDRF of Rs 4.00 lacs each to the families of the deceased, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad urged the Government to take steps for assessment of losses and requested for financial support in deserving cases.
