SRINAGAR: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a complete shutdown on Thursday against the killing of militants Sabzar Ahmad and his associate in Nowgam gunfight.

The JRL comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik has also called for a peaceful protest after Friday prayers against recent killing spree, said a statement.

The resistance leadership in the statement said that the ‘arrogance and obduracy of govt of India’ and it’s repressive policies in Kashmir are forcing the educated youth towards the path of ‘armed resistance and martyrdom.’

Thousands of people on Wednesday took part in the funeral prayers of Sofi at his native Sangam area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
