Jammu: J K Congress shall hold a peaceful protest against the delimitation commission tomorrow, over its draft report, which is against settled norms and ground situations and containing large scale irregularities , besides its eye wash excercise to meet aggrieved people în a very short time .
JKPCC said that it shall lodge its strong peaceful protest over the highly objectionable report prepared on the behest of ruling party,which is in violation of all settled norms and ground situations.besides its failure to listen to the aggrieved people especially oppositiom political parties over the draft report in detail. The commission has undertaken more than two years to prepare the draft report ,which is far away from ground realities and fundamental norms and objective of of delimitation .
The Commission has least bothered about the Population, area, compactness, topography, physical features, public convenience and other like factors putting the people in great inconvenience , social, political and administrative disturbances în different areas. Several constituencies have less than 50,000 voters while others more than 1.50 lac.
The smallest constituencies range from 37000 to 70000 population while large constituencies are as high as around 1.92 to 1.75 lakh population.There are large variations of population from district to district and even within one district. The readjstment of lok sabha sear of Rajouri-Poonch to Anantnag is most unreasonable and against public intrests and convenience.
There are several irregularities and vioaltions which needed to be fully reviewed and reconsidered but the Commission is merely doing eye wash to complete the formality of meeting hundreds of people în short durations like It did earlier to receive hundreds of representations but hardly anyone was considered.
There is large scale resentment amongst people în different district s, Assembly segments over the dissections conducted to promote the interests of ruling party at the cost of public intrests and the aggrieved people expect the opposition to raise their voice. However, it is clear now that the Commission is merely doing eye wash excercise and it has not allocated time or fixed a formal meeting with different political parties to allow them to properly represent peoples grievances, the party is lodging protest.
JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that party is left with no option but to register the protest and resentment of aggrieved people, as no fair hearing is available. No formal communication has been given to the Congress party except me în individual capacity, being signatory of the objections to the draft report on behalf of the Indian National Congress, J &K Unit. The schedule released by The commission does not mention any meeting with political parties, as BJP was already duly represented and NC too has filed objections & published dissenting notes. The peaceful protest dharna shall be held at 10am tommorrow at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu which shall be PCC president G A Mir and senior Leaders, he said.
