Jammu: Senior J&K PCC leaders have welcomed the joint statement of 19 opposition parties of the country demanding restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and holding of early assembly election in a free and fair manner.

Welcoming the joint statement of the 19 opposition parties meeting hosted by Congress President   Sonia Gandhi yesterday, fully supporting the demand of people of  Jammu and Kashmir for restoration of full statehood and early assembly elections, JK PCC leaders have expressed gratitude to the leadership of all 19 opposition parties for extending full support to the justified demands of people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Senior Congress leaders hailed the initiative of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and other participants for sending a strong message to the Centre Govt. to conceede the most genuine and rightful demand of people of J&K, without further delay, besides holding early assembly elections, in a free and fair manner, to restore democracy in Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest. The congress party and all other opposition parties have been realizing the pain and sufferings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been deprived of their genuine rights, status, dignity and identity but the BJP Govt. at the Centre is unnecessarily delaying the restoration of statehood, they said.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir are getting restless now, as the BJP is unsympathetic and unreasonable in not responding to the popular demand of each and every citizen for restoration of statehood, snatched away without any justification in an arbitrary and unilateral manner. They impressed upon the Centre Govt. not to further  delay the restoration of full statehood before holding assembly elections, at the earliest, for which the ongoing exercise of delimitation of assembly constituencies should be completed, without delay, in a free, fair and transparent manner. For the conduct of free & fair assembly elections, it is imperative that the delimitation exercise is completed in a most fair and transparent manner, they said, adding that same be completed at the earliest possible.
