NEW DELHI: The Delimitation Commission plans to soon invite associate members for deliberations to redraw parliamentary and Assembly constituencies in J&K. Sources said there were indications that associate members from the Valley were now willing to take forward the exercise.
Earlier in the day, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla is learnt to have made a presentation on the achievements made over the past two years.
“The future of Jammu and Kashmir was discussed and the delimitation exercise and peaceful elections are important milestones in restoring statehood, as promised in Parliament,” tweeted Amit Shah after the meeting.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh later said Shah also explained to the J&K leaders about the prevailing situation in the UT and how development and security initiatives taken in the past two years have changed the landscape.
