JeM associate apprehended in Kupwara

KUPWARA: Jammu and Kashmir police Sunday evening apprehended a Jaish-e-Muhammad militant and recovered a grenade and Indian currency worth Rs 3. 47 lakhs from his possession besides a two-wheeler.

An official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), on the basis of technical intelligence a Naka checking was established at Kandi, Nutnoosa during which a Bike borne Jaish associate was apprehended. He was shifted to police station Kupwara for questioning.

The official said that during the interrogation the Jaish associate revealed the possession of one live grenade and some Indian currency.

“One live grenade and Rs 3.47 lakh Indian currency and a Bike bearing registration number JKO5E-0358 was recovered from the possession of JeM associate”, the official said.

The official identified the apprehended Jaish associate as Sahil Mushtaq Dar son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar a resident of Babagund Handwara aged only 19-years-old.

In this regard, the official said a case FIR No 333/2020 US 3/4 Explosive sub act,13, 38, 40 ULAP act stands registered in Police Station  Kupwara.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara, Shriram Ambarkar confirmed the arrest of the JeM associate in Kupwara last evening. 

“A JeM militant has been arrested and Indian currency along with a grenade has been recovered from his possession”, he said.
